Today on Marine Science Minute with Florida Sea Grant: Citizen ScienceÂ
Do you want to help monitor the health of Florida’s coastal ecosystems? You can volunteer and participate in scientific research projects!Â
Volunteers can help collect and share scientific data that may impact species or habitat management, education, capacity building, policy development, or research.Â
Florida Sea Grant, in partnership with a variety of national and state agencies and organizations, leads and supports citizen science programs to reach these goals, like microplastics awareness, goliath grouper counts, terrapin project, horseshoe crab tagging, artificial reef monitoring, and eyes on seagrass, among many others.Â
You can support your community by getting involved in these programs. For information about this and other coastal topics, contact your county extension office or visit Florida Sea Grant at flseagrant.org.Â
