About
As a native Pacific Islander, Renee brings over eight years of natural resource management and research experience in the Pacific. She previously worked for the Guam Environmental Protection Agency, where she implemented monitoring programs for the island’s waterways and coastal habitats. Renee has also contributed to coral conservation and restoration efforts at the University of Guam Marine Laboratory, focusing on at-risk species. Most recently, she served as a coordinator at the University of Guam’s Center for Island Sustainability and Sea Grant, where she developed climate action plans for Guam aimed at reducing emissions and enhancing climate resilience.
Renee has been a part of the Guam Reef Restoration Consortium and Intervention Partnership and the Pacific Chapter of the Coral Reef Consortium, which has afforded her jurisdictional experience with coral restoration planning and coral disturbance response efforts. Renee holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of San Diego and a M.S. in Biology from the University of Guam.
Projects & Specialization
As the Pacific Coral Disturbance Coordinator, Renee is responsible for capacity building and strategic support for Pacific preparedness and response planning in the four U.S. Pacific coral jurisdictions—Hawai’i, American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. She also focuses on strengthening partnerships, improving regional coordination, and supporting communications, awareness, and community engagement with Pacific partners.
