Leaders from Florida Sea Grant, the University of Florida, the NOAA Marine Debris Program, Pasco County, and members of the media gathered at Bear Creek in Pasco County, FL to celebrate the installation of a trash capture device, the debut effort of a NOAA-funded marine debris project. Operation TRAP, or “Trash Reduction in Aquatic Preserves,” is focused on capturing marine debris and preventing it from entering Florida waterways. The project also aims to educate the public on marine debris and to reduce the use of single-use plastic.
