    Research focus:

My research lies at the intersection of ecology and bioinformatics and seeks to answer fundamental questions about the structuring of microbial communities. I use genomics, metagenomics, and metatranscriptomics tools, as well as traditional microbiological isolation and culturing to test microbial ecology hypotheses. My current focus is to use approaches from microbiology, bioinformatics, and analytical/physical chemistry to characterize interactions and communication between microbes and their hosts in soil-water-plant systems.
