Boats and Water Sports
Speed Limits
No boat or other watercraft shall be operated on any waters within the town, at a rate of
speed which causes waves to damage, or cause damage to docks, wharves, seawalls, the shoreline, boats, or personal property contained in boats
moored or tied to docks or wharves.
Mooring of Boats; Live-Aboards (as amended by
Ordinance No. 91-14)
"Moor". To anchor a watercraft; or to tie off a water craft
to any submerged fixed object; to tie or secure a watercraft to a piling, dock, wharf, seawall, dolphin, or other object of thing located or
attached to real property in or adjacent to the waters of the Town.
It is unlawful for any person to moor a watercraft at, to along or
on any dock, seawall, dolphin, piling, pier other real property owned by the Town, for any period of time, when the dock, seawall, dolphin,
piling, pier or property has been posted by the Town as "mooring prohibited."
It is unlawful for any person to moor a watercraft at, to, along or on any
dock, seawall, dolphin, piling, pier, real property or beaches owned by the Town, for a period of time in excess of 12 hours, when the dock,
seawall, dolphin, piling, pier or property has not been posted by the Town as "mooring prohibited."
Live-Aboards.

It shall be unlawful for any person to moor any live-aboard
watercraft at any location or locations upon the waters of the town for any period of time in excess of 72 hours in any 30-day period,
except as follows:
The watercraft is moored at a commercial marina, yacht basin or
yacht club which lawfully operates pursuant to an occupational license issued by the town, is a lawfully permitted use pursuant to the
Zoning Code of the Town, and which has sewage pump-out facilities, public toilets, laundry facilities and public showers; or
(b) The watercraft is moored at a dock or facility not meeting the standards set forth in (a) above but is moored upon waters of the town
pursuant to the terms of a temporary permit issued to the owner or operator of the watercraft by the Town Manager.
Temporary permits. The Town Manager shall have the authority to
issue a temporary live-aboard permit, which permit shall be limited to 10 days, to the owner or operator of a watercraft to be moored at a
dock or facility at which live-aboard activities are not specifically authorized pursuant to (1)(a) above or otherwise anchored upon the
waters of the town

Sanitary and Health Regulations for Boats
All boats and other watercraft, and the persons thereon, docked moored
or tied to land, docks, piers, seawalls or other mooring devices, within the town limits, shall observe all health and sanitary regulations of
the town and other ordinances of the town.
It shall be unlawful for any person on any boat or other watercraft to dump or
dispose of garbage, paper, bottles, cans, refuse, or other debris into the waters of the town or on any lands adjacent thereto.
Boating; Restricted Operation Areas
Definitions. For purposes of this section, the following definitions
apply:

"Congested areas." Waterways where, by virtue of their shape, size or normal traffic
levels, hazards may be created to persons or property.

"Idle Speed-No Wake." A restriction or controlled zone which has been established to
protect the interest of the public. "Idle Speed-No Wake" means that a vessel cannot proceed at a speed greater than the speed
which is necessary to maintain steerageway.

Restrictions.
It shall be unlawful for a person to operate a motorboat at a speed
in excess of idle speed-no wake in an idle speed-no wake zone.
It shall be unlawful for a person to operate a motorboat at a speed in excess
of slow down-minimum wake in a slow down-minimum wake zone.
Compliance with State Law.
The provisions of this chapter shall be read in pari materia with Chapter 327, Florida
Statutes.
