Steve Otwell Named 2007 IFAS International Fellow

Steve Otwell, a Florida Sea Grant seafood technology specialist whose work has led to innovative and cost-effective responses to issues of seafood safety worldwide, has been selected as an International Fellow in the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) at the University of Florida for 2007.

Inaugural Oyster School Held in Apalachicola

Buyers from among the nation’s major oyster retailers recently attended a first-of-its-kind workshop aimed at increasing the quality of fresh Gulf of Mexico oysters available to consumers today. The oyster’s school’s novel curriculum is patterned after another UF seafood and aquaculture food technology program, the annual Shrimp School. The school's director, Steve Otwell, expects Oyster School to become an annual event as well.
