All
three species are similar in appearance with exception
to stomach morphology
(Blue
Tang, Ocean
Surgeon). The blue tang is a presented as an example
of surgeonfish morphology.
|
|
The
internal anatomy of the surgeonfish is dominated by a thin-walled,
tightly coiled intestine. The liver and pyloric caecae are also
visible.
 .
Here
the intestine has been retracted to expose the stomach, with its
prominent caecae.
