Florida Sea Grant support to marine aquaculture has grown considerably, through core funding, National Sea Grant initiatives, and industry demand. Still, its program focuses on a limited number of issues. Following a thorough assessment of information needs for the state's aquaculture commodities, Florida Sea Grant addressed its marine aquaculture research and outreach toward three potential growth areas: edible finfish and shellfish; stock enhancement; and ornamentals.
